iPhone 16 May Introduce a Feature Initially Planned for iPhone 15
Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, a company reportedly received an order from Apple for "System-in-Package" modules used for tactile buttons. Details can be found in the MacRumors article.

The focus is on the so-called "capacitive keys," which are purportedly set to be featured on both sides of Apple's upcoming smartphones, replacing traditional physical buttons and powered by Taptic Engine motors.

Similar rumors circulated regarding the current iPhone 15 Pro, but the feature was not realized in 2023. However, it's premature to assert with high certainty that capacitive keys will debut in 2024 smartphones. Some insider communities believe the project might be postponed again.

However, it's almost certain that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature an additional physical button on the chassis, possibly utilized during photo/video shooting.

As expected, Apple has not provided any official comments on the matter.

To recap: iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are likely to feature enlarged screens of 6.3/6.9 inches, titanium bodies, and an updated camera system. The miniature version of the smartphone will boast a 5x optical zoom, currently only available in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Additionally, the devices might incorporate an enhanced neural module, which alongside iOS 18, will introduce new generative AI functions.
