Qualcomm, the American chipmaker, has announced its latest chipset, named Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which is designed for premium mid-range devices.
One notable aspect of the new chipset is its unusual naming convention, as there was no Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. Following the limited release of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 on a few smartphones, Qualcomm has now launched Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.
The new chipset features eight computing cores in a three-cluster combination of 1+3+4. The primary Kryo core operates at a frequency of 2.91 GHz, and the central processor provides a more than 50% increase in performance compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The graphics processor, which has not been named, boasts a two-fold increase in performance. Additionally, the chipset includes a 5G modem.
Interestingly, Qualcomm has chosen to keep the main specifications of the new chipset under wraps, and it is not yet known which devices will be the first to receive the processor.
