What it's for.

With MIUI 13, your smartphone will start working twice as fast. Xiaomi has placed emphasis on increasing system performance by slightly redesigning the interface.

It is worth noting right away that MIUI 13 has some new features. For example, the "memory expansion" feature that you could only dream of on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.

Installation preparation

• So, first of all you need to unlock the bootloader. You can check the bootloader status in the settings. The "For Developers" item.
• Then download the MIUI 13 firmware to your computer and copy it to the micro SD card.
• Turn off the phone.

Recovery installation

• To install TWRP Recovery, you need to download the self-configuration file to your PC.
• Put the phone into Fastboot mode.
• Press and hold the combination of the volume down key and the power key.
• Connecting the phone to the PC.
• Log on to the computer and search for the downloaded rar file.
• Extract and run the file with bat extension.
• A message will be displayed, "Press any button to continue."
• Press Enter and the computer will say "The restore was successfully installed."
• Now we do not need the computer and turn to the phone.

From Fastboot to Recovery mode

• Hold down the key combination to switch to Recovery: volume up and power key.
• As soon as "Redmi" is displayed, release immediately and wait. If you have done everything correctly, the phone will boot into Recovery, through which we will install our new firmware.

Installing MIUI

To install the firmware, follow the instructions in Recovery mode:

• After loading the "Recovery" mode, the phone will reboot and turn on.
• Then, click the "Wipe" tab in the Recovery menu. Then enter "Data Formatting." Type in English "yes" and confirm with the key on the keyboard.
• Then go back to the "Selective Wipe" tab.
• Check everything except Micro SD and USB OTG. Swipe.
• After cleaning the phone, let's move on to installation.
• Go back to the main menu.
• Select "Install."
• Press "Select Mass Storage" and select the firmware file on the USB flash drive.
• Transmit it. The firmware is installed.
• Press "Reboot."

After rebooting, the phone will turn on with the new MIUI 13 firmware. Now select the language and skip all the initial settings of the phone. Swipe up and you're done!

Uninstalling MIUI

How can we go back to the previous firmware, such as MIUI 12.5?

Basically, we go back the same way we installed it:

• Turn off the smartphone.
• Hold down the key combination to switch to Recovery: Volume up and power key.
• Wipe the smartphone. Press the "Wipe" tab.
• Go to "Format data." Type "yes" in English and confirm with the keyboard key.
• Then go back to the Selective Wipe tab.
• Check everything except Micro SD and USB OTG. Step.
• Go back to the main menu.
• Select "Install."
• Press the "Drive Selection" button and select the file with the official MIUI 12.5 firmware on our pendrive.
• Transmit it. The firmware is installed.
• Press "Reboot."

After rebooting, the phone will boot with the official MIUI 12.5 firmware. Already at the initial settings stage we can see that the phone is unrealistically slow.

It is clear that over time the phone will begin to run more slowly. Again, we can see that the MIUI 13 firmware is different from 12.5, which improves the performance of even an older phone like the Redmi Note 7.
