Netflix's game catalog will double

According to the information, Netflix plans to expand its presence in the gaming market, doubling its portfolio of offerings by the end of 2022. We're talking about Netflix games.

According to a report from Apptopia, subscribers have made more than 23.3 million installs of Netflix mobile games. On average, the games are used by about 1.7 million users per day. This accounts for less than 1% of the service's 221 million users.

The importance of games in Netflix's overall strategy has increased in recent months, as the company has begun to face increased competition for users' attention. In the second quarter of this year, Netflix suffered a loss of nearly one million subscribers. In addition, the base shrank by 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter.

"One of Netflix's many advantages in strategy execution is the ability to drive interaction after a program premieres on the platform."

Last year, in a letter to shareholders, Netflix management named Epic Games and TikTok as some of its main competitors. There are currently only 24 titles in the games catalog. The number could rise to 50 by the end of the year.

Netflix is also working with third parties to expand its portfolio of offerings and acquired three development studios last year. Executives have been slow to disclose spending on the new segment. Finnish studio Next Games had to pay about $72 million.
